Privacy policy

Effective 17 July 2026 · Updated 7 September 2026 · Applies to the PubCrawler app for iPhone and Android, and pubcrawlerapp.com

The short version

PubCrawler collects the minimum it needs to work: your account details when you sign in, the crawls you build, your mates list, the photos you take on a crawl, and - while a live crawl with mates is running - where you are, so the people on that crawl can find each other. Photos are only ever visible to you and the people who were on that crawl with you. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't use third-party tracking or analytics.

What we collect

What stays on your phone

If you use the app without signing in, everything - crawls, history and photos - stays only on your device. Your saved home location always stays on your phone and is never uploaded. Your sign-in is kept encrypted on the phone. Your phone's own backup (iCloud on iPhone, Google on Android) may include the app's data, under Apple's or Google's policy.

Location

The app uses your location, only while you're using it, to show you on the map, tell you how far the next pub is, plan routes and work out your way home. To do that it sends map, place and journey queries to Google and Transport for London. A search for pubs in the area you're looking at, and a pub's opening hours, rating and price when you open its page, go through our server, which asks Google on your behalf and keeps what it found for up to 30 days so the next person looking there doesn't need a fresh search. Your position is shared with other people only during a live crawl with mates, as above. We do not keep a history of your location on our servers.

Where your data lives

Account data, crawls, mates, photos and feedback are stored with Supabase, our database provider, and are protected so that only you (and the mates you share with) can see your data.

Services the app talks to

Each handles data under its own privacy policy. We share nothing with anyone else, and we never sell your data.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, username, mates, crawls, notes, ratings, stamps, shared data and uploaded photos from our servers, and removes that account's crawls, history and photos from the phone you delete it on. Photos you saved to your camera roll stay in your camera roll. Feedback messages you've sent may be kept, but are no longer linked to you.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it - email support@pubcrawlerapp.com and we'll sort it out.

Age

PubCrawler is about pubs, so it's intended for people of legal drinking age (18+ in the UK).

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email support@pubcrawlerapp.com.
